Karuizawa
Tokyo’s mountain escape: cooler air, the old Ginza shopping street, and the kind of quiet you can actually hear.

Full guide coming soon
By Jenner: I have been to Karuizawa, and I am back in late December. The full guide will be written from that stay — what is below is the preview from my earlier trip.

What it is
Japan's original summer resort town — villas, churches, and a main street built for strolling, close enough for a weekend but a world away in temperature.
The one-day outline
Kyu-Karuizawa Ginza on foot in the morning, waterfalls and forest walks after, onsen before dinner. I'm back this Christmas for the winter version.
Field notes
Notes by Jenner, from places I have actually been. More notes are on the way — the full guide is coming soon.
